How to make Friends in School

The following techniques can help students find ways to be sociable and fit in at school



If the school has a newspaper, radio station, or bulletin board
students should be observant and check them daily
for interesting activities that are going on in the school
Plays, games, debate team, and
other after school activities are
often featured in the media



Join a team. It’s not required to be an all star athlete
to join in and play on a team
Football, basketball, track, and many other sports
allow all students to try out
It may be surprising who makes the team might just be all the students
who tried out. Some schools provide different clubs after school also
Students should pick a club and/or sport they are interested
in and not just choose one randomly
However choosing something is better than nothing at all


Students should try to get to class early
and talk with some other early arrivers
If a topic doesn’t come to mind, ask about
the previous assignment or ask
what they watched on TV last night
Be a good listener and share thoughts when asked
